BASIC INFORMATION

Extremely High Heating Efficiency

Coefficient of Performance (COP): These systems do not create heat by burning fuel; they move it. This results in a very high COP, often in the range of 3.0 to 5.0 or higher. This means for every 1 kW of electrical energy consumed, you get 3-5 kW of heating energy. This is significantly more efficient than even the best gas boilers or electric resistance heating.

Excellent Energy Balance & Heat Recovery Potential

In buildings with simultaneous needs for cooling and heating (e.g., a hotel with a cooled interior and heated perimeter rooms), the system can be designed to transfer rejected heat from the cooling zones directly to the heating zones, drastically reducing overall energy consumption.

Stable Performance in Cold Climates

Since the heat source for heating is the water loop (which can be maintained at a relatively stable temperature), its heating capacity and efficiency do not drop as drastically in cold weather as they do for air-source heat pumps.

Environmental Benefits

By using electricity and refrigerants with lower global warming potential (GWP) instead of burning fossil fuels on-site, these systems can significantly reduce a building's carbon footprint.
